2).
Learning Goal: How
do different Apples mold?
Learning
Performances: The students will perform an experiment. They will put three different apples in three
different temperatures: room temp, heat, and cold. Have the students check the apples everyday
and record the data in a table. After the experiment check for understanding by
having the students communicate their results by making a presentation to
present in front of the class.
3)
Describe how your new
proposed assessment addresses the learning performance:
The new proposed assessment addresses the learning
performance because it engages the students by having them ask a scientifically
oriented question and through evidence the students are allowed to develop and
evaluate explanations that addresses the scientifically oriented question they
asked. Then after the students gather
their evidence they formulate an explanation from the evidence that addresses
the scientifically oriented question then after the students can evaluate their
explanation in light of alternative explanations, particularly those that
reflect the scientific understanding.
Then the students communicate and justify their proposed explanation.
4)
Develop a rubric for
your group’s proposed assessment. Explain what they rubric scores will tell you
about your learning.
The rubric is above.
The rubric scores are divided up by 10-9, 9-7, 7-5 and 5-0. If the students did their work very well and
scored in the first category, I know that the students fully understood the
concepts of the material and the assignment.
If the students scored in the second category I know that the students
have the idea but they do not fully grasp the concepts and shows that they are
unclear of the assignment. If the
students scored in the third category the students included some of the correct
answers but they are unclear about the assignment, then the last category shows
that the students do not understand the material of the assignment at all.
